This section will be updated from time to time with a plethora of old pics devoted to a common theme.
This month's topic: Past Survivor Series (pics courtesy of the WWF's Survivor Series website)
Ravishing Rick Rude and his teammates talk with Mean Gene Okerlund before their match in 1988. Curt Hennig and Harley Race (hidden by Andre and Gene) are the only wrestlers on the team still living, with Hennig being the only one still active. Andre The Giant, Dino Bravo and Rude have all unfortunately passed away. Also in the picture in the back row are managers Bobby Heenan and Frenchy Martin.
A close-up view of "The Model" Rick Martel's "Arrogance" perfume spray bottle. I loved Martel's gimmick back then! (from 1990)
Brother Love accompanies The Undertaker to the ring for his WWF debut in 1990. Undertaker was the mystery partner on Ted DiBiase's "Million Dollar Team."
Hulk Hogan and Zeus have a staredown during their 1989 encounter. Zeus, as you know, was a character played by Tom "Tiny" Lister in the 1989 movie "No Holds Barred." Zeus was the nemesis of Hogan's character, Rip.
Rowdy Roddy Piper cinches the figure-four leglock on Ric Flair in their 1991 match.
Mean Gene approaches the mysterious giant egg that "hatched" in 1990 to reveal the ridiculous "Gobblygooker," an acrobat dressed in a turkey costume.
Bob Backlund celebrates his win over Bret Hart for the WWF title in a submission match in 1994. Backlund would lose the belt a few days later to Diesel (Kevin Nash).
Bastion Booger..... ENOUGH SAID!! (from 1993)
Quoth Johnny Polo "Nevermore"!! Scott Levy joins Jim Cornette at ringside for the "Foreign Fanatics" team in 1993. Polo (Raven) managed the Quebecers back then.
Hunter Hearst Helmsley (you forgot what "Triple H" stood for, didn't you?) carries the Intercontinental title into the 1996 Survivor Series. Gotta love the old "Greenwich blueblood" gimmick!
Rocky Maivia enters Madison Square Garden for his debut WWF match in 1996, which he was the sole survivor of. Maivia later went on to become the most electrifying man in sports-entertainment, as we all know. Losing that hairdo was a major step in the right direction.
Shane Douglas suplexes Shawn Michaels in 1995. Douglas was then using the "Dean Douglas" gimmick, one of my all-time favorites. Also adding to my personal interest in this feud was that Michaels had to forfeit the I-C belt to Douglas at the previous month's PPV because of a beating he took outside Club 37 here in lovely Syracuse, N.Y.!!
The Red Rooster (Terry Taylor) attempts to break out of Big Boss Man's bearhug in 1989. Taylor is now one of Boss Man's bosses, as he is a high-ranking WWF official.
All you beer-bellied sharecroppers out there better remember Bad News Brown, master of the Ghetto Blaster (enziguiri) and the baddest mofo to ever walk the streets of Harlem! (from 1988)
I got two words for Sean Waltman.... "New Gimmick!" Waltman, as the 1-2-3 Kid, celebrates with Marty Jannetty after the two men were the survivors in their 1993 match.
Lex Luger, in his "Made In The USA" gimmick, prepares to leap onto a member of the Quebecers in 1993.
No collection of old-school pics would be complete without The Bushwhackers. Here they are in action in 1990. Whoa, yeah! Bloody lovely, tell your mutha!
